The Topic Of Abortion

As we delve into this challenging subject, I want to share with you why I feel qualified to speak about the meaning of abortion. You see, when my birth mother was pregnant with me, there were those who urged her to terminate the pregnancy. However, she firmly believed that God had a special purpose for my life and refused to consider abortion. At the age of 19, she found herself sitting on a park bench, overcome with emotion. It was then that a stranger passed by and read Psalm 139 to her, providing her with the strength and reassurance she needed to carry on. And so, with this personal connection to the topic at hand, let us now begin our discussion.

The topic of abortion has been a source of controversy for many years. As Christians, we hold the belief that every life is precious and valuable, including that of an unborn child. This blog post will delve into the Christian apologetic perspective on abortion and why we believe it is morally wrong.

Our first and foremost belief is that life begins at conception. Psalm 139:13-16 states, "For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother's womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well. My frame was not hidden from you when I was made in the secret place, when I was woven together in the depths of the earth. Your eyes saw my unformed body; all the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be." This passage clearly illustrates that God values and knows every life, even before it is born.

Moreover, we believe that abortion is a form of murder. Exodus 20:13 states, "You shall not murder." This commandment applies to all forms of life, including the unborn. Abortion takes the life of an innocent child who has done nothing wrong. It is a selfish act that prioritizes the convenience of the mother over the life of her child.

Some argue that abortion is necessary in cases of rape or when the mother's life is in danger. While these situations are undoubtedly difficult, we believe that there are other options available. Adoption is a loving and selfless choice that allows the child to live and be loved by a family who wants them. Additionally, modern medicine has made it possible to save the life of the mother while still allowing the child to be born.

In conclusion, as Christians, we believe that every life is valuable and that abortion is morally wrong. We must stand up for the unborn and advocate for their right to life. We must also show love and compassion to those who have had abortions or are considering it, and offer them support and alternatives. Let us pray for a world where every life is cherished and protected.
